Our school-based Student Assistance Counselors meet with students regularly to help with substance abuse issues within a student's home as well as providing prevention and intervention services. NSYC counselors play a critical role in substance abuse education, prevention, treatment, and providing a safe place for students to talk. In collaboration with teachers, administrators, and outside agencies, school counselors can ensure that students are receiving the education and assistance they need to lead and maintain healthy lives. Counselors meet monthly to discuss their case load and to make sure all siblings within the families have access to counseling services.
