According to a national research survey, America After 3PM, conducted in 2014 by the Afterschool Alliance non-profit organization, more than 20% of kids--over 11 million youth--are left home alone after school everyday in the United States.

At North Shore Youth Council, we believe that after school hours should be for growth, socialization, and learning--not engaging in destructive behaviors. We recognize that positive intervention in middle school-age youth during this interval of the day is crucial to promoting healthy development and encouraging a substance-free lifestyle.  That's why NSYC offers support and enrichment for pre-teens beyond the school bell in the form of after school recreation programs in the Mt. Sinai and Rocky Point School Districts, serving families five days a week when school is in session, Monday thru Friday, from dismissal to 6:00 PM.
